At North East Interiors, our Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing projects, ensuring seamless operations and delivering a hassle-free experience for our valued customers.
To help you get to know our fantastic team a little better, we’re introducing you to some key players here at North East Interiors - and next up in the blog post series is our very own manager - Barry!

Where did your career in home design begin?
Ever since secondary school, I’ve been intrigued by design and how a well-designed space can not only look great but also becomes more functional too. After school I went on to study architecture at University, which laid the foundation for my career in this field.”
It helped me develop the technical skills required for surveying and designing which has been invaluable throughout my career, and to this day in my role at North East Interiors.”
What made you decide to pursue a career in kitchen and bathroom design?
“I was looking for a career change away from my previous architectural and planning role. Since North East Interiors is my family’s business, I could see firsthand that it was becoming increasingly busy, and so it felt like a natural step for me to join the company . The opportunity to be involved in creating beautiful, functional spaces in people’s homes was incredibly appealing to me, so it was fortunate that my parents had the business for me to pursue that.”
How many years experience do you have in sales or kitchen/bathroom design?
“I have eight years of experience working in the office side of the business and over ten years as a designer with North East Interiors specialising in both kitchen and bathroom design.”
What is the main focus of your role, and what would you say is your ultimate goal?
“The main focus of my role is to ensure the smooth operation of the company as a whole. My ultimate goal is to provide our customers with a hassle-free experience throughout their journey with North East Interiors, from the initial design phase to the final installation. As a local, family run business, being approachable, easy to work with and taking the time to understand our customer’s needs for their kitchen or bathroom is something we pride ourselves on.”
What aspect of your role are you most passionate about?
“I would say I’m most passionate about seeing a design come to life. Witnessing the transformation of someone’s space from an initial concept designed on a computer screen, to a completed installation that actually enhances our customer’s lives, is incredibly fulfilling for me as a designer but also as a Manager. The joy and satisfaction it brings to our customers is what drives my passion for this role.”

What is your favourite part of your job?
“My favourite part of the job is the general interaction with customers. Building relationships and ensuring their happiness throughout the whole process is essential for delivering a great service and making them feel at ease. Without satisfied customers, there wouldn’t be a company, so their needs being met is always a top priority for me.”
What advice would you give to someone who wants to get a new kitchen or bathroom but doesn’t know where to start?
“I would advise them to do their homework and take their time to explore what they like and what they don’t like - whether that’s in general or in their current space. It’s crucial to consider all the available options and weigh up the pros and cons of each element of the room. By thoroughly considering their preferences and functional needs, they can ensure that their new kitchen or bathroom not only looks amazing but also works perfectly for their lifestyle.”
